Ramayana Legal Trouble Intensifies

Ramayana Movie Legal Trouble Intensifies: The big A-list actors starrer movie Ramayana has fallen in legal trouble and this issue seems to be intensifying. One of the ex-producers of the movie, Madhu Mantena, has threatened to take legal action amid the payment related issues. According to the reports, Ramayana was in making since 2021 and it went on the floor only in 2021. Previously Madhu Mantena, who is famous for his works like Ghajini, Udta Punjab, and Lootera, was involved in the movie. But later, Prime Focus' Namit Malhotra and Allu Aravind took over the production after promising Mantena that he will get his share of Intellectual Property rights. But what happened in the middle that led to Mantena threaten about taking legal action? Let us explore.

IS RAMAYANA FACING LEGAL TROUBLE?

Yes, Ramayana facing legal trouble and this might grow gruesome if the payment issues are not resolved. Mantena was promised by Malhotra that he will paid his contribution and intellectual property rights. It is reported that the payment amounts in crores. Mantena made a public statement recently in which it is mentioned that Malhotra-led Prime Focus failed to fulfill their contractual obligation to pay IP rights. Mantena said in the public notice, "The members of the public are hereby informed and put to notice that Prime Focus Technologies Limited had pursuant to an Assignment Agreement entered into, with our client Allu Mantena Media Ventures LLP in April 2024 sought to acquire the Intellectual Property Rights of our client in the Project Ramayana (being the script and material 'Ramayana' based on the epic) for an agreed consideration amount as per the terms of the Assignment Agreement."

Mantena then added, "The assignment under this Assignment Agreement has not taken effect to date, as the payment required to be made by Prime Focus Technologies Limited for the assignment to take effect has not been made to our client." The notice further claimed that since the payment has not been made all the rights remains under Mantena's name and if any other person use/exploits the right then Mantena will be taking the "necessary steps as many be advised." This confirms that if Mantena is not paid then he will be taking a legal action against the movie. It remains to be seen whether the co-producer Yash will step in to solve the legal issue or not.

WILL RAMAYANA SHOOTING STOP?

Until now, there has been no reports about whether Ramayana will sink or continue to sail. If the legal rift continues, there is high chance of the movie's shooting to get interrupted. But, it is expected that the Prime Focus will step in to clear the payments and avoid further legal issue.
