Aakhri Sawal Makes History As First Film With Indian Sign Language Release, Set To Hit Screens On May 8
Aakhri Sawal, led by Sanjay Dutt, releases on 8 May 2026 with born accessible Indian Sign Language from day one. The film examines the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's history while prioritising accessibility to broaden audience participation in Hindi cinema.
Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming film Aakhri Sawal is drawing strong interest ahead of its theatrical release on 8th May 2026. The Hindi feature film explores the history of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and is also being positioned as a landmark in accessible cinema for Indian audiences.

The makers have confirmed that Aakhri Sawal will be released with Indian Sign Language from the very first day in cinemas. This approach aims to reach India’s estimated 4 to 5 Cr. visually challenged and deaf people, giving many more viewers direct access to the film’s narrative and historical focus.
Aakhri Sawal Indian Sign Language release and born accessible format
Aakhri Sawal is described as the first film to release with born accessible Indian Sign Language on 8th May. The team states that the Hindi feature will be fully accessible in ISL, building that feature into the film from the outset rather than treating accessibility as a later addition.
Alongside its accessibility plan, the film is noted for taking on a subject that stands apart from routine commercial themes. The story centres on the world’s largest voluntary organisation, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, aiming to present key aspects of its past to viewers who may not know this history.
Interest around Aakhri Sawal increased further when the makers launched a teaser on the occasion of Hanuman Ji Janmotsav. The preview offered a first look at the film’s interpretation of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s journey, and helped frame expectations for the full release in cinemas.
