Director: Soham Shah

Kartam Bhugtam Review: Soham Shah has directed films like Kaal and Luck. Both the movies failed to make a mark at the box office, but he clearly tried to give audiences something new in his films. So, when his film Kartam Bhugtam's trailer was released, and it didn't give ou much about the storyline, we were quite intrigued to know what the film is all about. But, as we say we should not judge a book by its cover and a film by its trailer. So, is Kartam Bhugtam worth your time and money? Find out in our review below...

The movie is about a guy named Dev (Shreyas Talpade) who comes to India from overseas to sell his father's property. But, things don't go as planned because a lot of hurdles come in the process and he is not able to find a solution. He visits an astrologer named Anna (Vijay Raaz) who tells him to follow a few things, and soon, everything starts happening in Dev's favour. But, soon Dev becomes a blind follower of the astrologer which also affects his mental health. What happens next, forms the rest of the story...

When the trailer of Kartam Bhugtam was released, it looked majorly like a movie that would revolve around astrology, and superstitions that a person follows. While the first half of the film does concentrate on that element, the second half becomes a totally different film and turns into an Abbas-Mustan style of a revenge drama.

The movie starts on a dull note, but picks up eventually, and the interval block will surely create an excitement for you to know what will happen next. However, the second half fails to keep us engaged. The twists and turns are very predictable. It's a revenge drama and the character of Dev is getting all the things done very easily. Maybe, a good screenplay and narration, in the second half could have made this one a better watch.

Kartam Bhugtam Actors' Performances

Shreyas Talpade as Dev has given an honest performance, and it is good to see him doing something different as we usually get to watch him in comedy films. Vijay Raaz has done a good job in his role. Madhoo makes her Hindi comeback with this film, and though she has performed well, we wonder why such a caricature kind of a character was given to her.

Well, one person, who steals the show in the film, is Aksha Pardasany. The actress has a great screen presence, and she has given a very confident performance. If by chance, you watch this movie, you will surely love Aksha's act.

Kartam Bhugtam Review Final Verdict

Overall, Kartam Bhugtam is not something one would expect it to be after watching the trailer. Though it of course tries to give the message, 'Life is a Karma' & 'What goes around, comes around', but then we have watched such revenge thrillers earlier. So, it offers nothing new.
