Sharmajee Ki Beti Review: We all have grown up hearing this, 'Sharmajee ki beti ne yeh kiya', 'Sharmajee ka beta aisa hai', and a lot more like this. Now, finally, it's time to watch about Sharmajee ki beti in Tahira Kashyap's directorial titled Sharmajee Ki Beti which stars Divya Dutta, Sakshi Tanwar, Saiyami Kher, Vanshika Taparia, Arista Mehta, and Sharib Hashmi. The movie has started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. So, is it worth your time and money? Well, YES it is!

The film revolves around five women who are at the different stages of their lives. Jyoti Sharma (Sakshi Tanwar) who works at a coaching centre as a teacher; she lives with her daughter Swati Sharma (Vanshika Taparia) and husband Sudhir (Sharib Hashmi). While Jyoti tries to balance her work life and her personal life, her daughter feels that her mother only cares about her job and nothing else. Meanwhile, Swati is also going thought her own problems of adolescence.

Then there's Kiran Sharma (Divya Dutta) who from Patiala has shifted to Mumbai with her husband Vinod Sharma (Parvin Dabas) and daughter Gurveen Sharma (Arista Mehta). While Kiran is finding it difficult to adjust a big city like Mumbai, Gurveen is confused about her sexuality.

Well, the fifth Sharma is Tanvi Sharma (Saiyami Kher) who is a cricketer and she is in a relationship with a struggling actor Rohan (Ravjeet Singh). While the two love each other, Rohan prefers Tanvi to show her girly side.

Now, all these ladies have problems, and how they overcome them, forms the rest of the story...

Sharmajee Ki Beti is written and directed by Tahira Kashyap, and it is her first directorial debut. The movie starts on a slow note, but after the introduction of all the characters, it delves into the lives of these characters, taking us into an emotional as well as a hilarious journey. Tahira's narration is simple, but that's what was required for this film. There are many hard-hitting as well as light-hearted moments in the movie. The way Tahira has narrated the adolescence part is just commendable.

Also, there are some small moments in the film that will surely grab your attention, and you will feel sad that though we are in 2024, women still face such things. For example, when one of the characters gets an award, her male colleagues say, she got it because she wears red lipstick, forgetting that she works hard to earn that honour.

However, thankfully, Tahira has not made this one like a male bashing film. If she has shown misogynistic characters, she has also shown the good men with a character like Sudhir Sharma who is always there to support his wife.

Sharmajee Ki Beti Actors' Performances

Sharmajee Ki Beti surely goes a notch higher because Tahira has got a bunch of super talented actors for her movie. It is a treat to watch Divya Dutta in such a powerful role after a long gap. Her comic timing is perfect, and she just nails it in the emotional scenes. After Divya, it is Vanshika Taparia who grabs our attention the most. The child actor is simply outstanding in the film. Even Arista Mehta has been given a strong role to portray, and she leaves a mark.

Sakshi Tanwar gets the perfect subtlety required for the role, and she suits the part to T. After Ghoomer, we once again get to watch Saiyami Kher as a cricketer, and she is very convincing in her role, and has performed her part very well. Sharib Hashmi as the supportive husband will win your hearts. Though the movie is mainly about the women, Hashmi gets scenes to shine, and he has performed wonderfully. Parvin Dabas is fine in his role.

Sharmajee Ki Beti Review Final Verdict

Ovrall, Tahira Kashyap's directorial debut is a beautiful film about women, and it is surely very relatable. Also, not just women, even men will enjoy this film. So, you should watch this one on Amazon Prime Video!
