Kolkata Doctor Rape Murder Case: Why Are Bengalis On The Verge Of Boycotting Tollywood Movies?

Bengalis Boycotting Tollywood Movies In Kolkata Doctor Death

Kolkata Doctor Rape Murder Case: I still remember how the entire nation was enraged at the Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide that was primarily suspected to be a murder case by many. The influence and role of drugs was another thing that raised the eyebrows of many, while investigation followed by many reports couldn't nullify the same. Not to mention, the suicide case of a successful actor like him has shaken the Bollywood's core. And it was mostly linked with nepotism, ignorance, trolled by Sushant's industry colleagues. Another thing that netizens fumed over was the dirty politics behind the silver screen.

Now, it may raise the question why I am trying to connect the Kolkata doctor death case with Sushant's? Well, in both the cases, two talented young individuals apparently fell prey to internal politics in their workplaces, and their colleagues stayed mum on the case. It can be further noted that influential people not raising their voice on time for both the cases had a major impact on the people who were largely protesting and raising concerns over the matter.

While Sushant's untimely demise and several accusations against the industry dampen the prestige of Bollywood in many angles, it also made people question the worth which led people to boycott the industry and movies which largely impacted the box office business afterwards.

Big Bollywood stars like Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, even Shah Rukh Khan were trolled and boycotted by the fans after the actor's demise in order to show their protests.

In the case of Kolkata doctor, who was brutally killed and raped, many Tollywood celebrities have stayed mum for a longer period while Kolkata was on fire, when the women marched ahead at the dark hours of Independence Day night. It further turned worse when the goons attacked the protest rally and it turned violent.

It is to be noted further that the whole Tollywood industry shares a special bond with the CM Mamata Banerjee herself, and many of the big Tollywood stars are the MPs and MLAs of the TMC, which is headed by the CM. Thus, it is further raising questions if they are deliberately avoiding the matter while the people are fuming over the government for not giving enough safety to its workers.

Much like Sushant's post death scenario in Bollywood, netizens are calling out the Tollywood celebrities and bashing them for not speaking up timely, or staging their protest by applying makeup, faking the sound of 'shankh', or not caring at all! People are calling them 'spineless', 'shameless' and trolling brutally for being 'insensitive'.

The question is- amid these protests, will the Tollywood industry be able to rise above everything? Will people support the stars in the future who see them as their idols? Well, only time can tell!
