    Lunar Eclipse 2026 Timeline India

For many Indian locations, moonrise around 06:26 PM decides which stages of the Lunar Eclipse 2026 are visible. Since early penumbral and partial phases happen before moonrise, observers mainly catch the closing part of totality and the final partial phase. The Chandra Grahan unfolds in a fixed order, starting with a subtle penumbral stage before the darker umbra appears. As the umbra fully covers the Moon, the surface turns red during totality, then the sequence reverses until the shadow completely clears. Although the first penumbral contact at 02:16 PM is almost impossible to notice, the later total phase from 04:35 PM to 05:33 PM offers the most dramatic views. By 07:52 PM the Lunar Eclipse 2026 ends, with the Moon fully out of Earth's shadow.
