The first season of The Recruit followed Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo), a skilled yet inexperienced CIA lawyer who found himself unexpectedly entangled in the dangerous world of espionage. The season's intense finale left audiences on edge with a thrilling cliffhanger.

Now, in Season 2, the tension escalates as Owen crosses paths with Jang Kyun (Teo Yoo), a Korean NIS agent. Jang seeks Owen's help on a high-risk mission-to rescue his wife, Nan Hee (Sanghee Lee), who has been abducted by the Yakuza. With greater stakes and deeper international intrigue, the new season promises even more action, suspense, and unexpected twists.

THE RECRUIT SEASON 2 ENDING: HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED IN CLIMAX, POST-CREDIT SCENE

Determined to save Jang and Nan, Owen defies Lester's orders and stays in Russia, prompting Lester to call Nichka for extraction. However, Lester is unaware that Nichka has her own agenda-she plans to betray them all. Having promised the Russian mob a captured CIA agent, she intends to hand over Owen. But her plan backfires when Owen overpowers her, knocking her unconscious and locking her in the trunk of her own car-an impressive feat for someone labeled as "just a lawyer" against a highly trained assassin.

Meanwhile, the CIA orders Dawn to eliminate Jang Kyun before the Russians can extract any intelligence from him. However, she has her own motives and deviates from the mission. The situation reaches its climax at a local airfield, where Jang and Nan are being held captive. Against all odds, Owen manages to reach them just in time for a daring rescue. But danger still looms-unbeknownst to him, Dawn has positioned herself with a sniper rifle, ready to eliminate him. Just as she is about to pull the trigger, Nichka, seeking revenge, arrives and kills Dawn. Their confrontation creates the perfect distraction, allowing Owen, Jang Kyun, and Nan to flee into the open sea.

With no solid escape plan, their survival seems uncertain-until Yoo Jin Lee turns the tide. She outmaneuvers Lester, ties him up, and seizes control of her boat to execute a last-minute rescue. Just when it seems like they might not make it, the Russian coast guard closes in, only for an unexpected savior to emerge from the depths-an American submarine, ensuring their dramatic escape.

WILL THERE BE THE RECRUIT SEASON 3?

Jang Kyun is set to strike a deal with the U.S. government, securing a role within the CIA, which leaves the door open for his return in a potential new season. However, Owen's fate remains far more uncertain. Throughout the mission, the CIA had been expecting his failure, intending to make him the scapegoat for any fallout. But with Owen successfully heading home while Dawn doesn't make it back, it's likely that she will take the blame for the chaos he left behind. Given these circumstances, Owen might just find himself back at work-whether he wants to or not.

Netflix has yet to officially confirm the renewal of the series, but creator Alexi Hawley has expressed a strong desire to continue the story, making it clear that another season is very much the goal. Talking about the same, he told Deadline, "I have been thinking about [season 3], in broad strokes. It would definitely be nice [to film abroad]... it'd be great to do that again. I'm not sure exactly where I want to go yet. I feel like we've done Russia, we've done Korea. So maybe Latin America [or] Africa would be exciting."

As of now, Netflix has not made an official announcement regarding the renewal or cancellation of The Recruit for Season 3.
