Kerala State Film Awards 2024: Which Film Will Win Best Movie— Aadujeevitham, Kaathal, Or Ullozhukku?

Kerala State Film Awards: The Kerala State Film Awards for the previous year are set to be announced today at 12 p.m. by Minister Saji Cherian. The jury, led by esteemed Hindi director and screenwriter Sudhir Mishra, has completed its deliberations, with a competitive field of films vying for top honours.

Among the films in contention for the Best Movie award are "Aadujeevitham," featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran, and "Ullozhukku," starring Urvashi and Parvathy Thiruvothu. Other notable films under final evaluation include "Kaathal: The Core" with Mammootty, "2018: Everyone Is a Hero," and "Chaaver" featuring Kunchacko Boban.

The competition for the Best Actor award is also heating up, with Mammootty and Prithviraj Sukumaran leading the charge. Mammootty is recognised for his performances in "Kaathal: The Core" and "Kannur Squad," while Prithviraj is acclaimed for his role in "Aadujeevitham."

Out of the 160 films submitted for the awards, many have not yet been released, and 84 are the work of debutant directors. Some of these films could potentially receive unexpected award recognition.

Mammootty vs. Rishab Shetty: Best Actor Race Heats Up at National Film Awards

Later in the day, the national film awards will be announced at 3 PM, with Mammootty competing for the Best Actor award against Kannada star Rishab Shetty. Mammootty's performances in "Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam" and "Rorschach" have positioned him as a strong contender for his fourth national accolade. However, Rishab Shetty's acclaimed work in "Kantara" presents significant competition.

This year's awards also bring notable changes, including the removal of Indira Gandhi's name from the Best Debut Director award and Nargis Dutt's name from the Best National Integration Film award. The announcements will be closely watched by industry insiders and fans as the Kerala State Film Awards and national awards recognise excellence in cinema.
