Will Fans Rush To Theaters To Watch Un-Cut Empuraan?
Empuraan is currently facing much controversy because of the portrayal of the Gujarat riot in the movie. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has said, "The communal hate campaign against #Empuraan and its creators is deeply disturbing. This is yet another example of a growing pattern where coercion and intimidation are used to silence dissent - tactics that have always been hallmarks of authoritarianism. Undermining creative freedom through fear and threats strikes at the very core of democracy. Freedom of expression is a fundamental right; we must stand united to defend it (sic)."
Replying to CM's comment, BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said, ""Its clear that not many people like the film Empuraan. Some people like it and one among those is Pinarayi Vijayan. Its Vijayan who politicised the issue over the film and the Congress followed suit. The controversy is completely created and filmmakers tactics to generate more publicity for the film might also be behind it (sic)." The former Union Minister further added, "The developments related to the movie Empuraan was escalated into a row. The BJP faction is of the opinion that one should regard a movie as it is. Those who watch a film has the right to criticise and express their views. Neither me nor my party has said anything other than this (sic)."
According to the reports, 17 scenes from the movie will be cut. However, the revised version will take some time to be released in the theater. Will this boost the footfalls? It is believed that many will be rushing to cinemas to watch the un-cut version of Empuraan. Let us further wait to see what happens ahead.
Empuraan, helmed by director Prithviraj Sukumaran, is brought to life by producers Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan, under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies. The gripping script comes from Murali Gopy, while Sujith Vaassudev captures its visual essence through his cinematography.
Empuraan stars Mohanlal in the lead role as Stephen Nedumpally alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran in key roles.
