Sarvam Maya Starring Nivin Pauly Now Streaming On OTT Faces Piracy Concerns
Sarvam Maya Now On OTT: Sarvam Maya, a Malayalam comedy-drama with elements of fantasy, continues its theatrical run more than a month after its cinema release, while also entering its next phase on the digital platform. The film began streaming on Jio Hotstar on January 30 and is available in its original Malayalam, as well as Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi.

The film stars Nivin Pauly and Riya Shibu in the lead roles, supported by Aju Varghese, Janardhanan, Preity Mukhundhan, Madhu Wariar, Raghunath Paleri, Arun Ajikumar, Vineeth, Methil Devika and Althaf Salim. Written and directed by Akhil Sathyan, Sarvam Maya is produced by Dr. Ajayya Kumar and Rajeev Menon under the Firefly Films banner, with cinematography by Sharan Velayudhan and music composed by Justin Prabhakaran.
The narrative follows Prabhendu Namboothiri, an aspiring musician from a traditional Brahmin family, who returns to his hometown after his plans to travel abroad are stalled. While assisting his cousin with religious rituals, he encounters Delulu, a mysterious young spirit with no memory of her past, setting in motion an unusual bond that gradually reveals fragments of her identity and alters the course of both their lives through elements of mystery and the supernatural.
Sarvam Maya Faces Piracy
Earlier this month, reports had emerged about pirated versions of Sarvam Maya circulating online even before its official digital release. According to a Reporterlive report dated January 5, 2026, a video surfaced showing a passenger watching the film on a mobile phone while travelling on the Kannur Executive Express. The clip, which was widely shared on social media at the time, raised concerns about unauthorised copies being accessed during the film's theatrical run.
With Sarvam Maya now officially available on OTT from January 30, it is being learned that pirated versions continue to appear on various illegal websites. Such unauthorised circulation poses challenges to the film's legitimate digital streaming performance and once again highlights the persistent issue of online piracy faced by filmmakers and producers.
Despite continued enforcement efforts and legal provisions, film piracy remains a recurring concern within the Indian entertainment industry. Major releases across languages often encounter similar issues, underscoring the ongoing challenges involved in curbing unauthorised circulation.
Piracy affects a film's earnings and undermines the efforts of everyone involved in its making, including actors, writers, technicians and crew members. Such unauthorised circulation continues to pose challenges for the industry, with stakeholders stressing the importance of watching films through official theatrical screenings or authorised digital platforms.
Disclaimer: Filmibeat strongly opposes piracy in all forms. Under the Cinematograph Act, 1952, and the Copyright Act, 1957, piracy is a punishable offence. Readers are encouraged to support the creative industry by choosing legal platforms and avoiding pirated content.
