Suparna Anand Calls For Mukesh's Resignation and AMMA Reforms

She noted that even during her time in the industry, there were issues such as the casting couch. She praised actresses who had the courage to name their harassers but criticized Mukesh for continuing in his MLA position despite the complaints. Suparna called for Mukesh to step down and expressed disappointment over the silence of senior actors Mammootty and Mohanlal, emphasizing that the need for accountability extends beyond personal relationships.

Furthermore, Suparna Anand voiced her dissatisfaction with the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), criticizing the organization for its ineffective handling of these issues and stating that the dissolution of the executive committee of AMMA was inevitable. She stressed the importance of having women in leadership roles within AMMA to ensure better representation and address the systemic issues within the industry. She shared her hope that the incidents in Kerala will prompt reforms in the film industry, regardless of language.

Suparna Anand, who captivated Malayali audiences through films like "Vaishali" and "Njan Gandharvan," has now spoken about her experiences for the first time since the Hema Committee report was released. Despite making a significant impact with only a few films, she abruptly left the industry. Her sudden departure occurred at a time when she had risen to fame in Malayalam cinema through just five films: "Vaishali," "Witness," "Utharam," "Nagarangalil Chennu Raparkam," and "Njan Gandharvan." Now, thirty-five years later, Suparna is opening up about the challenges she faced during a period when discussions about the mistreatment of women in the Malayalam film industry were gaining national attention.
