According to a report by Oneindia, the rally is taking place at the Moongilpalayam Meeting Ground in Perundurai taluk. The 16-acre venue, located near the Vijayamangalam toll plaza along the National Highway and adjacent to the Sri Vijayapuri Amman Temple, has been prepared to accommodate a large number of attendees while allowing for proper emergency access. For those unable to attend in person, the TVK public meeting will be streamed live on the official YouTube channel of Vijay's party, along with coverage by several news outlets.
Safety Measures and Guidelines
Given the heightened safety concerns after the Karur incident, local authorities have announced a range of restrictions. Attendees are prohibited from bringing weapons, firecrackers, or inflammable items. Climbing trees, poles, hoardings, or other elevated structures near the venue is strictly banned. Processions, roadshows, and welcome arrangements on highways and public roads will not be allowed.
Police have also cautioned against travel on vehicle rooftops or covering registration plates with party flags. Children, pregnant women, and elderly persons have been advised to avoid attending the event. Medical teams and emergency response units will be stationed on-site to provide immediate assistance if required.
Political Context
The Erode meeting holds additional significance following the induction of veteran politician K.A. Sengottaiyan into TVK in late November 2025. A former AIADMK minister, Sengottaiyan has been appointed Chief Coordinator of the party's executive committee and Organising Secretary for the western districts, including Erode, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Nilgiris. Party sources indicate that his entry strengthens TVK's organisational structure in western Tamil Nadu.
The rally also occurs against the backdrop of the Karur stampede on September 27, 2025, during which 41 people died and over 110 were injured. The Supreme Court has ordered a CBI probe into the incident and appointed a three-member monitoring committee, led by former Supreme Court judge Justice Ajay Rastogi, to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation.
The ongoing meeting is a closely watched political event, with both public participation and official monitoring at the forefront.
