Ajith Kumar, Vikram Cast Votes in Chennai: Polling for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 began at 7 a.m. on April 23, with several prominent personalities stepping out early in the day to cast their votes. Among them were actors Ajith Kumar and Vikram, who were seen at polling stations in different parts of Chennai.

Ajith Kumar arrived at a polling booth in Thiruvanmiyur in the morning hours. He was seen in a white outfit, including a blazer and shirt, along with dark sunglasses, and later showed his inked finger after voting. The actor interacted briefly with those present before leaving the premises.
Vikram, meanwhile, cast his vote at a polling station in Besant Nagar. He was seen in a white short-sleeve shirt paired with brown trousers and dark sunglasses. Accompanied by security personnel, the actor walked into the polling station amid tight arrangements and later cast his vote. His appearance drew attention from onlookers gathered in the vicinity.

Several other high-profile figures were also among the early voters as polling picked up momentum across the state. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin cast his vote in Chennai, while AIADMK chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami voted in Salem. Actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay, along with actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, were also seen visiting polling booths early in the day.
The election is being conducted in a single phase across all 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Polling will continue until 6 p.m. Over 5.73 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes to decide the fate of 4,023 candidates in what is considered a crucial electoral contest in the state.
The main contest is between the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, headed by M.K. Stalin, and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance, led by Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Actor-turned-politician Vijay is also in the fray, marking his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's first electoral outing.
The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4, and the results will determine the next government in Tamil Nadu. The tenure of the current Assembly is set to conclude on May 10.
