Junooniyatt 2 Update: New Season Of Ankit Gupta's Show Scrapped? Here's The REAL Reason

Junooniyatt 2 Update: When Ankit Gupta got eliminated from Bigg Boss 16, fans revolted and urge the makers to bring him back as a wildcard contestant. Although, he never returned to the reality show, Colors channel immediately offered him a new fiction show titled Junooniyatt. It was supposed to be the next big launch on the leading GEC.

WILL ANKIT GUPTA SHOW JUNOONIYATT RETURN WITH SECOND SEASON?

Ankit Gupta and Gautam Singh Vig, who were riding high on the Bigg Boss 16 wave, played the leads in the romantic serial. They were joined by Neha Rana. While the TV buffs expected Junooniyatt to set the TRP charts on fire, the show failed to strike a chord with the audience. Barring a few weeks, the TRPs remained average.

The regular twists and turns couldn't work in favour of Junooniyatt. The channel replaced the show with Neerja, pushing it to the 9pm slot. After a journey of nine months, the drama went off air in November 2023. After the show ended, there was a buzz that Junooniyatt might return with second season.

However, Filmibeat had denied the rumours back then. An industry source told Filmibeat, "There's no truth to the rumours about Ankit Gupta playing the lead role in Junooniyatt 2. He is back in Mumbai. Ankit is in talks with different production houses for their upcoming projects. After Bigg Boss 16, he didn't get a break and directly started shooting for the show in Chandigarh. He is enjoying the much-needed break and also talking with a few producers for projects. When the channel has not confirmed the rumours, how can we believe it?"

Ankit Gupta had also refuted the rumours, stating that he was unaware about the development.

"Sabse pehle mujhe ye batao ki aap logon ko ye information mil kaha se rahi hai? Mere paas Junooniyatt 2 ki koi information nahi hai, Ravi-Sargun ke paas bhi nahi hogi, agar hoti toh mujhe batate. But, I've no information about it. Kuch aisa hoga toh we'll sit and discuss and then we'll see what needs to be done," the Udaariyan actor told ETimes.

WHY WAS UDAARIYAAN 2 SCRAPPED? REAL REASON IS

According to Gossip TV, Colors channel has scrapped Junooniyatt 2. Sargun Mehta and Ravi Dubey will be launching another show on the channel. Their existing drama Udaariyaan will be shifted to the 6pm slot to make way for Fahmaan Khan starter Krishna Mohini.

Our source maintained that Junooniyatt was not on the cards. "There was no internal discussion about the show. The channel wants to experiment with fresh concepts and it is not bringing back new seasons of any show," the khabri quipped.

Ankit Gupta will make his comeback to the TV screens with another show on Star Plus.
