Rahul Banerjee, who made his grand acting debut opposite his estranged wife Priyanka Sarkar in the 2008 blockbuster film 'Chirodini Tumi Je Aamar', drowned in the sea and was rescued by the unit members and technicians after he went missing for hours, as per Anand Bazaar Patrika. Eyewitness and actor Diganta Bagchi told The Telegraph Online that Rahul Banerjee was still alive when he was rescued, but allegedly passed away on the way to the hospital.
