Biography

Dinesh Ravi (Attakathi Dinesh )   is a Tamil film actor, who has appeared in leading roles. He made his breakthrough playing the lead role in Attakathi (2012) portraying the role of Dinakaran. Career Dinesh completed his high school at the Dhanalakshmi Higher Secondary School in Washermenpet, Chennai. After graduating from college, he tried his luck in cine field from 2010. After playing minor roles in Aadukalam and Mouna Guru, Dinesh made a breakthrough appearing in Attakathi (2012).  The film performed well commercially and also won positive reviews, with a critic from Rediff.com noting "he's an actor of great promise". After cameo appearances in Ethir Neechal and Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, he was seen in a lead role again in Cuckoo produced by Fox Star Studios. His performance as a visually challenged man was praised by critics.  IANS too compared Dinesh to actor Kamal Haasan, stating "Dinesh is probably the next Kamal Haasan of the industry". He was next seen in Thirudan Police directed by debutant Caarthick Raju. His first release in 2015 was Tamizhuku En Ondrai Azhuthavum. Dinesh then starred in Visaranai, a film based on the novel Lock Up by M. Chadrakumar. The movie premiered in the Orizzonti (Horizons) section of the 72nd Venice Film Festival, where it won the Amnesty International Italia Award. It received highly positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike. Dinesh also played a supporting role in Kabali, starring alongside Rajinikanth. His subsequent projects included Ulkuthu (2017), Annanukku Jai (2018), Kalavani Mappillai (2018), and Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu (2019), though all four films were box office disappointments. In 2024, Dinesh made a notable comeback by playing the role of a middle-aged father named Gethu in Tamizharasan Pachamuthu's family drama Lubber Pandhu, which had a cricket backdrop. Starring alongside Harish Kalyan, Dinesh’s performance brought him renewed fame and fanfare. Audiences celebrated his portrayal of Gethu, flocking to theaters to watch him in this impactful role.
