Born on December 25, 1974, in Mumbai, Nagma's family background itself is a blend of diverse cultures. Her father, Arvind Morarji, hailed from a Gujarati family, while her mother, Shama Kazi, was Muslim. She has a sister, actress Jyothika, and two half-brothers from her father's side.

Nagma's cinematic journey began at a young age of 15 when she debuted opposite Salman Khan in the 1990 Hindi film "Baaghi: A Rebel for Love." The film's success launched her career, and she went on to act in several Bollywood movies in the early 1990s, including "Suhaag" (1994) and "King Uncle" (1993).

Shifting Gears to South Indian Cinema:

In 1993, Nagma made a strategic move by venturing into the South Indian film industry, starting with Telugu films like "Gharana Mogudu" (1992) and "Allari Alludu" (1993). Her Tamil debut came with "Kadhalan" (1994), where she paired opposite Prabhu Deva, and the film's chartbuster music catapulted her to stardom in Tamil Nadu.

Throughout the 1990s, Nagma became a prominent leading lady in Tamil cinema, delivering captivating performances in films like "Baashha" (1995) alongside Rajinikanth, "Villidhi Villain" (1995), and "Mettukudi" (1996).
